Bull Trout and Salmonflies

Today was our first day back on the Deschutes. We floated the river and found plenty of adult bugs climbing along the banks. The fish were willing to come to the surface for the dry fly and we stuck with the chubbies all day. No need to go subsurface. Today Mike found himself a beautiful and rare Lower Deschutes Bull Trout. The fish through up a wall of water that startled everyone at the lunch-table. More salmonfly action to come; the season is young.
